Rebekah,
I have been eating a primarily raw food diet of fruits, greens, and nuts with some cooked foods and splurges of cooked meals with my family and friends(about 1 every couple weeks) for six months now. I find that when I combine the wrong foods it causes excess gas and significantly slower digestion. Combining a sweet juice fruit with a green causes a feeling of indigestion. My theory that I have adopted from other and my own intuition is that fermentation takes place because the sweet juicy fruit is being slowly cooked at body temperature and begins to ferment. I have read that alcohol will be produced if the juice stays in the stomach too long and that all alcohol is poisonous.
My diet is primarily based on foods by themselves at individual meals. I originally subscribed to Arnold Ehrets fruitarian writings and then decided that greens were an important component for some reason or anoher. I have gas often but I blame it on the greens, wrong food combinations, or eating too fast and chewing poorly. In no way am I a perfect model for eating. I'm just trying to figure things out. The social situations are by far the most challenging, I mean, who eats this way?
Yes, I am cold often, Especially when I don't eat. I feel that when I am detoxifying myself then I am cold. Just my feeling. When my blood sugar is high I feel warmer i think. When it is low I feel colder? All just assumptions.
Hope this helps.
Adam.
