For what it's worth, I read an article written by Rozi Graham in Living Nutrition once that recommended you not feed children nuts and seeds until age 3 or 4...when their digestive systems are mature enough.
I have no reservations whatsoever about feeding my children 811, and have, for awhile. Dr D has a 2 yr old and she's 811, and she looks very healthy and wonderful to me. My youngest child has never had anything other than fruit (including non sweet fruit and avos) and small amounts of lettuce and celery and she's just fine. She does like her avos a lot and I asked Dr. D about this, who said that at her very young age, avos were a perfectly fine food for her.
Hope this helps ease your mind a little. At this point with all I know, I would not feed my kids anything ELSE other than 811. Well, with little more fat from avo and other fatty fruit like durian thrown in. Breastmilk has a very high percentage of fat, so I'm not really worried about transitioning my youngest to a strict low fat diet until she weans, hopefully around 4 or 5.
