w00t! Richard Blackman and I are gearing up for a F.I.T training session after Health & Fitness Week, and I'll be using what I learn to develop a modified game plan for our whole family (the two of us plus nine kids, ages 2-22!) :D We've invited Richard to present the F.I.T System to our homeschool network, and hope to get Doug and Rozi in on the action, too, as they bounce around ideas for a special Family Fitness event! Andrew Perlot has also agreed to do a videoconference with our members to talk about his 811rv marathon experience. September's shaping up to be a great month for kicking off the new season! We're all avid swimmers here at home (popular pastime here in the subtropics ;-) and play all kinds of ball together (baseball, volleyball, basketball, tennis, etc.,) enjoy biking, games of chase (including every version of freezetag imaginable!), and all of our kids have been raised in the running community. This has been one of our favorite family activities since I married a distance runner who got his start during the boom (even named our firstborn, Nike! Short for Nicole ;-) I was an aerobics dance instructor back then, so toss that into the mix and we've got a pretty nice lineup of healthy choices for all ages. The Olympics also inspire the kids to make up special events and host their own Arden Games every other year, complete with Opening Ceremonies and fake torch ;-) Great fun! If I could pick one thing that has always presented a challenge to most of us, it would be the monkey bars, if that's the same term used for the steel ladder situated high above and parallel to the ground that I could never quite conquer as a kid! We've got a few monkeys in our midst, but there's definitely room for improvement! Pull-ups, push-ups, rope and tree-climbing are some other skills we'd like to master. How 'bout you? I'd like to hear how other 811rv families play together and collect ideas for getting the most out of this experience! Let's do it!!
