My own symptoms were sores on my tongue and mouth inside the lip area and a white layer on my tongue. It hurt to eat fruit. I had these symptoms even though my fat intake was 10% or less. I was eating overts almost daily though. For the last six weeks I haven't eaten any overts and I still have a patch, sorta like sand paper, inside my left lower cheek, which are tiny little bumps, and my tongue is still a bit white. The sores on the tongue and mouth healed once I stopped the overts. My mouth is still a bit tingly from the irritation specially after eating. My initial symptoms came up while on a green smoothie fast and I had a few french fries (shame on me). The fat from the fries shouldn't have taken me over the top as I hadn't had any overts all week.

I do believe I have had candida before. Interestingly as I gave up the overts, a patch appeared on my shin, itchy bumps, exzema-like. I had this patch on my leg several years ago that lasted for about 3 years until I drank aloe vera juice for a while and it cleared up. I think the itch skin was candida related. Luckily this lasted on my shin this time for just a few days.

I've heard of retracing illness or as we heal we peel another layer of the 'onion' off and reveal the next layer that is ready to heal. I'm just not sure where those layers are hiding in the mean time or how they decide who is next on the list to be healed. :) Does the squeaky wheel apply here?

The following website lists symptoms, first one I saw. As you can see, candida can be a stinker.

Symptoms of Candida Albicans
Thrush appears as creamy-white or bluish-white patches on the tongue - which is inflamed and sometimes beefy red - and on the lining of the mouth, or in the throat.

Diaper rash caused by candida is an inflammation of the skin, usually red and sometimes scaly.

Vaginitis is characterized by a white or yellow discharge. Inflammation of the walls of the vagina and of the vulva (external genital area) causes burning and itching.

Infections of the fingernails and toenails appear as red, painful swelling around the nail. Later, pus may develop.

Infection of the male organ often results in balanitis (inflammation of the head of the male organ). (Vegsource didn't like the normal word for male organ but they don't have a problem with vagina.)

An infection in the bloodstream can affect the kidneys, heart, lungs, eyes, or other organs causing high fever, chills, anemia, and sometimes a rash or shock. Candida can cause the following problems depending upon the organ infected:

* in the kidneys can cause blood in the urine

* in the heart can cause murmurs and valve damage

* in the lungs can cause bloody sputum (mucus discharge)

* in the eyes can cause pain and blurred vision

* in the brain can cause seizures and acute changes in mental function or behavior
