I was in China in 2003& 2005 (I wouldn't turn 811 until a few months later in '05 but I was vegan then). I was in Beijing, Shanghai, plus many other smaller cities. There were tonnes of back alley fruit vendors with cheap, ripe bananas that I was so thankful for. There are also all sorts of people carrying around baskets of fruit everywhere. I never saw anything labeled organic, even in upscale places, but maybe things have changed by now? I would say don't worry about organic, but stick to stuff with skins you don't eat such as bananas, melons..etc.
