Hi Karen,

Sure, I don't mind sharing at all :-)

I commonly see three brands when I shop, an organic brand from Costa Rica (unfortunately the brand name escapes me right now), and two non-organic brands from Hawaii, "Fiffes", and "Maui Gold" . I don't buy the Maui Gold ones anymore. They look great, but don't taste great. The Fiffes brand with the blue label are the best, usually the sweetest.

One thing I forgot to mention about picking out ripe ones. They should give slightly when you squeeze them. If they are rock hard they probably aren't ripe enough.

And if they are gold enough to go to the point where there is a little brownish gold on the outside, that's okay, it will be good.

If it's squishy on the outside where it is also brown, stay away, been on the shelf too long.

A note about the difference between pineapples from Costa Rica and Hawaii. You don't need the Costa Rica ones to be as golden as Hawaiian ones. Costa Rican pineapples only need a gold crown on the bottom, whereas with Hawaiian pineapples you want to try for gold almost all the way up.

I imagine you already knew some of that, because all you asked about what brands, but I could resist adding more :-)

Cheers!

- Van
