I would like some advice on pineapples. I bought a box of 6 today and cut open one and it is not fully ripe. Close, but not sweet enough yet. Questions: Is there a good way to Ripen the pineapples? As with bananas, do I put them in a bag, for instance? How long? Also, I notice if I leave a pineapple on the counter for a few days, small flying insects seem to come out of the "Leaves" on top. Could be from eggs. Could be they somehow get in from outside, but doubtful. Can I cut the "head" and "leaves" off and still store the pineapples that way? Or does that "kill" the pineapple? ---- Any pineapple Aficionados (sp?)out there?
