Hi allison,

My bet is that your diet is extremely high in the percentage of calories you're drawing
from fat, probably 50% or more. That is the likely culprit in why you're breaking out.
Eating "raw" is not necessarily a very healthy way to eat, unless you do it properly. The
only person who has found the right combination through this "raw" minefield is Dr. D,
who has come up with the 80-10-10 ratio of carbohydrates, protein and fat. If you want
to have success, you'll have to come much closer to his guidelines. Additionally, you
must determine how many calories you need to be eating every day and set out to
comply with that amount, like it or not. For example, if your ideal weight is 120, you
multiply times 10, for 1200 calories for your metabolic needs. Then you must add more
calories for your exercise and activities, normally between 800-1200 for a healthy,
active, young female. This would put you between 2,000-2400 calories per day. BTW,
you haven't mentioned any regular exercise. Very necessary to burn the fuel every day.
One banana or a large mango is about 100 calories. One large salad is slightly more
than 100 calories. So, you can see you need to eat a large amount of fruit vrs. salads.
This means you must increase your fruit intake substantially, and back off on filling your
stomach with low calorie salads. You have to teach your stomach how to receive much
more fruit at one time, because fruit is not calorie dense, so you need much more of it
to get all the calories you need every day. You might want to start with three fruit meals
a day, each with at least 700 calories. That's like seven bananas, or seven mangos. Get
the picture?
As to fat, for now, you should eliminate all overt fat, cold turkey. Just stop it. It's getting
in your way, big time. Later, when you've got the rest of the routine down, you can add
come occasionally, but for now, you can see the results on your face in the mirror, so
just stop it, like you would a poison.
We recommend you use Fitday.com for at least a week so you can see the results of
what you are eating every day. It won't work for you to guess, or feel. At this stage, as a
nubie, you have to know or you'll get yourself into trouble.
It's great that you're willing to eat all raw; now, you just have to reconfigure it so that it's
healthy, too.
Good luck,

Jack
