Hi! Bob,

It’s quite reasonable to desire explanations when it appears that our practices and assertions are so contrary to those you’ve been accustomed to.

If it’s scientific information you’re looking for, I highly recommend you obtain a copy of the book “Grain Damage,” which enumerates many of the health issues caused by the consumption of grains such as wheat, rice, and oats.

You rightly assert that meat and eggs are acidic foods to the human body, but you may not realize that grains are also likely to result in an acid condition in the body. They are full of phytates and opiates (which explains their addictive nature) and clearly cannot be consumed in their natural state.

You mention that it seems almost as though our group doesn’t belong on vegsource because we are “extreme” and “different.” But I find that most of the groups on Vegsource are interested in discovering what kinds of foods and activities are most healthful and natural for human beings. If it seems that we are extreme, that’s only because we’ve taken that search towards its obvious(to us)conclusion...:)

Fruits and green leafy vegetables, with small amounts of nuts and seeds when in season, are the only foods edible in their natural state. Eating grains and oats in the wild? Forget about it. You’d starve before you ever made a meal. Potatoes? You’d make yourself sick eating them in quantity in their raw state.

Even without scientific knowledge, most of us have the experiential knowledge of how foods like potatoes, grains, oats, etc affect our bodies. And, strange as it may sound to you, these foods have noticable detrimental effects on the human body, including body odor. Which comes as no surprise, really, once you actually look at the composition of grains, and see how difficult they are to metabolize.

I highly recommend that for a more comprehensive overview of what we practice here, that you take a look at the Frequently Asked Questions. The link is in the right hand corner of this page.

I wish you the best in your quest for true health and vitality.
