Fruit shakes made all the difference for me. In my initial foray into 811rv I went from a thin 180 (6'3 and fit) to a skinny 156 and dropping. Being an active surfer and fitness enthusiast I need to consume about 3500 to 4000 calories a day. Once I logged on to fitday.com I found that I was getting nowhere near this number. At the time, consuming the appropriate amount of food was a daunting task, until I discovered the miracle of banana shakes! Now I am at a steady and strong 170lbs - looking good and feeling great.

I used to use nut butter also, about a tablespoon: now I find that totally unnecessary and even counterproductive. I typically make mine with 2 - 3 celery stalks, 10 or so bananas, and about a cup of berries or other "flavoring" fruit. Over time I have lost the taste for the fat in them and feel better results without it.

These shakes have been a lifesaver for me. Now I am able to get by without them if I want to, but I still enjoy them and when I'm ravenous after a good workout they really hit the spot.

I don't do vegetable shakes because I don't enjoy them. I just eat baby greens right out of the container or lettuce straight from the garden. For example for dinner yesterday I had two large pomegranates (which are miracle fruits in my opinion - loaded with perfect little edible rubies beyond compare, so what if they are a mess!) followed by 20 or so romaine leaves. I probably don't eat as many greens as would be optimal but I'm not going to stress about being perfect as long as I am feeling this good.

Eat shakes all you want. I used to go days on them.
