First, I would take a history, in an attempt to discern any food sensitivities, digestive issues, health considerations, background, likes and dislikes, allergies, etc, etc, etc. As I mentioned in the previous post, I generally use fresh fruit, non acidic (but not always), for breaking fasts. My preferred method is to use the "chirping bird" concept of refeeding, where the client expresses desire to feed as often as s/he likes. I choose the type of food, and the volume, while the client chooses the frequency. There are many issues to consider, but overeating and not creating voracity are two big ones. The length of the fast is hugely significant in determining how quickly foods can be reintroduced. Usually, I am in no rush. The goal is to eventually get the person out of gluconeogenesis and back to normal carbohydrate metabolism. Dr D
