But of course you already knew that anyway. ;-)

Your trip to Borders reminds me of how I no longer go anywhere in the grocery store for food but the produce area. The rest of the store just doesn't exist most of the time - until I need to get something for someone else or am with someone else. Then it's an interesting experience - similar to watching TV commercials. I go through isles and isles of stuff that people consider necessities that are simply useless to me now. No point to them really - is my initial thought (or something like that). I then remember that I used to get things like that at some point in my life and how others still do. It's a good reminder actually. I then realize how foriegn I would seem if people knew the whole truth all the time, heh.

No need for all the cooked food and their ways of preparing & storing them. No need for all the shortcuts and quick ways to prepare them - or getting them frozen. No need for all that frozen stuff, or any of the canned or boxed dry goods either. No need for the meat & dairy aisles - except to get scraps for our dog and cats when I don't get them fresh fish from the fish market and all. No need for all the heavy detergents and dishwasher soaps, etc. No need for even most of the body care products - deodarant/anti-perspirant, soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, etc. and certainly not the hair dyes, straighteners, perm.s and all. No need for the over-the-counter 'remedies', holistic sugar pills, herbs and all(AKA symptom suppressors) or even the vitamin, mineral or protein suppliments, spices, condiments and all. Certainly no need for diet replacements, etc. either. And the juice isle - all pastuerized, no good anyway, oh well, don't drink juice anyway. The list goes on and on...

It's quite an interesting journey to make that occasional trip to the store and notice this stuff. I realize how much effort, time and money people spend on stuff that is unnecessary and in fact most likely ruining their health. Sad really, but I also know that I can't go around just telling them about it either. They have to figure it out for themself - or at least ask and be prepared to listen. ;-)

So grateful for this board and everyone on it! :-)
