Don't forget that all that fruit you're eating has protein in it too, and your body recycles a good 70% of its protein needs. The average piece of fruit is 6-8% protein per calorie average. It's not as big a factor as having sufficient carbohydrates to fuel the building and function of the muscles. All the protein does is provide raw materials with which to build the body uses carbs to do all the work. What Dr. D says...is that if you are getting enough calories you are getting enough protein. There is no such thing as protein deficiency, it is not even known in the medical community so fear not for lack of protein. You can get 10% with your eyes closed if you're eating greens too. Too much protein will lead to kidney problems and you are always better off with whole fresh foods. Does a gorilla need more than fruit and leaves to get to its massive weight and strength? No! There is nothing that cannot be improved upon by eating the diet we are biologically designed to eat. It's made for us, how could anything else compare? Happy Sleeps..:)
