Welcome! No worries about the slip. It happens sometimes. The good thing is that you get another chance to choose what you want when the next meal comes around. ;-) Your craving was probably due to not eating enough, so, yes, you weren't eating enough - calories, that is. One thing that is helpful for beginners is to go to FitDay.com & sign up for a free account & enter in the foods you eat in a day to see how many calories you are getting & at what percents. 811rv = 811 raw vegan = 80-10-10 = 80/10/10 = 80% of caloric intake from carbs, 10% from protein & 10% from fat (approximately - go lower with the fat if possible & higher with the carbs.). There is more to 811rv than just the diet though, as it is an efficient and simple way of following the natural hygienic recommendations which go beyond food and into all other areas the affect our health and well being (exercise, water, sleep, relationships, and more). Your mental clarity's fogginess is probably due to the bread mainly as grains can do that, but could also be due to undereating and/or the other cooked foods and/or detox - hard to tell. Dr. Douglas Graham (AKA Dr. D. for short) is our host here on this part of the VegSource board and has written a small book/pamphet sort of thing all about it entitled, Grain Damage which is available to purchase really cheaply off of his site. That site also houses the FAQs for this board found here. There is a link to both his site and the FAQ on this board's main listing of the threads (hit 'back' from this message). It's a great place to go to learn all sorts of useful stuff for your journey. It's hard to say when it will pass - it depends on your body's vitality and current lifestyle and all. You can try to help your body recover by getting extra of the following: sleep, rest, water, sunshine, showers/baths. This works for me when my body decides to do some more major cleansing too. If you find you have B.O., then it's time for some washing rather than perfumes/deodarants and anti-perspirants - even if you already washed that day. I think of it this way: if my body went through the hassle of gathering it's toxins and depositing them on my skin & could at least do it the favor of washing it off as soon as possible so it doesn't have to deal with it anymore. I don't get B.O. in general anymore, but do get a tad under my arms when a detox happens from time to time. I find that washing it off right away also helps me feel better overall as leaving it there affects my overall vitality somehow. People usually don't start off eating 30 bananas in a day, and certainly not while they are also eating cooked on the side. Bananas are good sources of not only vitamins, minerals and the 8 essential amino acids used to build proteins in our bodies, but they also have more calories than many other fruits, and certainly veggies. They are available year 'round in most places and tasty too. :-) You don't have to eat them though as there are many other fruits with high calories, however they are not always available in your area or year 'round. Dr. D. likes to say, "practice," in response to how people eat that much as it can take time for people's stomachs to get used to natural volumes needed for eating sufficient calories from foods that aren't as concentrated calorically as the fatty & cooked foods they have been accustomed to eating. Also, I personally have noticed that before I went 100% raw that I wasn't into bananas much while I was eating starches & once I was eating 100% 811rv I (and eating enough bananas for my caloric needs - along with whatever else I was eating) I didn't miss or desire the starches. If you find you are craving cooked then try eating more calories from fruit as it is likely you have undereaten. You might want to try this: pick a fruit you like, find a bunch of it & sit down with the ripe ones and eat somewhere between how much fruit you desire and how much you can with each meal until dinner, which you could pick acid fruits for the beginning (eating the same way) and follow it up with a salad. Drinking lots of water is great, as long as you have lots of thirst, otherwise you may find you don't need it. As you eat more wet foods your need for water will decrease, but not disappear completely as you will probably still need some in the morning and during/after exercise. Basically, let might try letting your body guide you - you have most likely been getting enough water if you are not thirsty and your urine is clear & colorless. Hope that helps! Aloha! :-)
