We are internally programmed to think of ourselves as healthy. It is built in to our hard wiring, as health is the natural and desired state of being. So no matter how bad off you are, you think of yourself as healthy. That is why folks say, "Except for .............., I am perfectly healthy." Meanwhile, we are socially programmed to accept extremely low levels of health as normal. We are programmed to accept disease, sickness, conditions, symptoms, etc. as normal. We are trained to accept sickness as health. This is exemplified by the number of people who go to work even when they are sick. To further foster the "sick is well" mentality, people who are sick (remember, we cannot separate physical from mental health) MAKE FUN OF healthseekers. Being called a health-nut is not a compliment, no matter how you take it. Being ridiculed, outcast, and socially tormented because you wish to take care of your health is the height of sickness, imho. Count your blessings that you take healthful living seriously. The hardest part about living healthfully is watching your loved ones live unhealthfully and suffering the consequences.
