It's been interesting watching Doug's followers react this
this very serious information that has come to light. We've
all heard this saying:

"All truth passes through three stages:

First it is ridiculed
Then it is violently opposed
Third, it is accepted as self-evident.

I am not quite sure when his followers will reach stage 3,
but I would say most on are in stages 1 an 2 depending on
their level of denial and how much they knew before AND,
what kind of emotional and financial investment they have in
this.

For example, I left a comment under Chris Kendall's video he
made on WFF Day 5 "Water Fasting and Dry WAter Fasting" with
the links to Leah's video and the court documents showing
Doug's license revoked and no longer see it there although
he left my comment about Julia and her turkey bsster enema
experience.

There has been absolute SILENCE on the front all all the
other "pioneers" with no public statement being made by any
of them, and I've had his most ardent supporters accuse me
of causing the death of a young anorexic girl on RNH.

It is clear to me the psychological vulnerabilities of all
of these folks and it doesn't surprise me: water seeks its
own level and it would make sense that someone who has
psychological challenges (Doug) would attract others who
have similar challenges.

The profile I am noticing in this group of followers of his
is as follows:

1) Very low self-esteem and no sense of belonging thus they
are vulnerable to someone who makes them feel needed and
wanted such as what I've been told Doug is very good at
doing.

2) Incapable of self-assertion and extreme fear of
authority/people pleasing. This is a trait of someone who
grew up in an alcoholic or abusive or neglectful home and
this pattern makes them vulnerable to similarly abusive and
neglectful people and authority figures.

3) Emotional immaturity--very reactive-based and uses name
calling and attacking when hurt. They are unable to express
needs in mature ways and are very needy and dependent on
stronger personality types for validation and direction in
life.

Here are two resources for these ones to help with these
issues:

1) Adult Children of Alcoholics website. They have online
and over-the-phone support groups:

http://www.adultchildren.org/

2) The Center for Non-Violent Communication--they also have
phone consultations and can teach communication skills as
well as how to give yourself empathy and support and give
group support for unmet needs:

http://www.cnvc.org/

I really do wish his followers the peace they are seeking.
Those are real legitimate needs, one just needs to make sure
they are being met in healthy ways via channels that are
helpful rather than harmful and I'm not quite sure they know
how to do that.
