I have seen videos in which McDOugall advises against gluten for those who are sensitive to it. I have done some study on this topic and only about 25% of the population are sensitive to gluten. So does that mean that EVERYONE should avoid gluten? No, because wheat carries a lot of nutrition, and i disagree with Doug Graham on Grain Damage. Look at wheat germ, a powerhouse of nutrients. Then there is this specialized sprouted and dried wheat that has much of the gluten separated out and a lot of B-vitamins are left. A great, amazing source of B-vitamins and this food should not be avoided by everyone...only those who are truly allergic or sensitive.
yes, some people can develop an auto immune reaction to gluten, but not everyone does.
There are genetic tests to see if one carries the sensitivity genes and to see if the genes have turned on.
Anyway, being a real doctor, as Harley said, McDougall has every test available to determine what foods a person should avoid and to me he is fruit friendly.
