For the record, despite what Harley has been posting, I have
never collapsed in a marathon.

I did hit the wall in the 2nd half of a marathon that I ran
just 4 weeks after breaking my 29 day fast with Dr. Graham in
2008. The impulsive decision to run the marathon was my own.
Dr. Graham knew nothing about it and had I asked him, he
would have said it would have been a predictable outcome that
I wouldn't be able to store enough muscle glycogen to run an
all out marathon at that stage of coming out of my fast.
I ran the first half of the marathon in my fastest half-
marathon time ever and felt amazing...and then I hit the wall
and could only progress slowly (with a lot of walking) to the
finish line.

Dr. Graham had said during my fast that 6 months after the
fast I would be soaring to new heights in my running and sure
enough, exactly 6 months after breaking the fast I completed
a 100km (60 mile) mountainous trail run 2.5 hrs faster than
the previous year. The year prior to fasting I had also
improved my race time by 2.5 hrs as a result of adopting the
80/10/10 raw vegan lifestyle.
So in 2 years my race time went from 21.5 hours to 16.5 hours
by eating 811rv, getting enough sleep, and doing a 29-day
water fast.

Every year since I've been consistently improving in my
running with the latest gains coming through building more
strength through squatting, bench pressing and deadlifting
with Dr. Graham.
