Gosh I do feel for you Janet, I am same age and would
like yourself feel crazy with little exercise.

I can't respond as Dr D is the expert on structural
matters.

I once met an American lady who told me she had been
given injections of a sugar solution between discs as
an experiment, and well for years after. Sounds
weird, they must have been encapsulated and shaped,
and it makes sense to use bone implants which will
bond... Never heard of it since, presumably it was not
a success overall. Might be worth enquiring though.

I've never heard of folks having further collapses of
discs after fusions, at least not as a result of that
surgery. I have talked to a fair number, as I was a
practising acupuncturist for 25 years, also am still a
studio instructor at gyms.

I do hope your op is a big success; I also hope you
have, or will, visit an experienced podiatrist for
orthotics to accommodate your altered gait.

Best wishes,

kate
