I am not familiar with Sommer's work, no, sorry. For a gymnast's strength, do some of the things a gymnast does. Use a bar, or pair of bars, or a pair of rings, and start playing on them. We are generally quite weak compared to gymnasts, at first, but don't be frustrated. Strength comes with practice, for sure. Persist. Pull and push, and support your weight. Have fun.
