Dear Dr Graham and other dads and mums,

we live in an apartment and can't keep rescue pets. My 6 month old son met my
parent's rescue Golden Retriever on the weekend; the sweetest, most gentle dog.
It was the first animal he's met. He was terrified and screamed as though he were
being attacked. I'm not keen on taking him to zoos or farms as the animals live
there in bondage. I was wondering how children become fond of animals
otherwise.
Further, are there any things I can do to develop compassion for animals in him
as he grows. I adored my pet dog as a child and became vegetarian when I
realised the food on my plate included dead animals at 10. I believe my views
came from loving my pet dog.

With love and gratitude,
Bronwyn
