Subject:         Severe Acne and Fasting

Hi Dr. Graham,

I am experiencing severe acne all over my face and neck, concentrated around my mouth, chin, jawline and neck. They are leaving dark scars and I'm very embarrassed and self-conscious. I work in a corporate office and I've begun to hide in my cubicle and stay home to avoid personal interactions. I've gone to the dermatologist and of course he's put me on antibiotics and steroid creams to try to get it under control. I've suffered from acne for the past 33 yrs and this is the absolute worst it's ever been. I look absolutely awful and I cry every day. The doctor believes it's a result of elevated stress and hormonal imbalance. Yes, I've been under a great deal of stress in the past few months because of financial issues.

I also have tendonitis in my left elbow which is preventing me from during strength training and body weight exercises.
So, it seems I may have a great deal of inflammation and toxicity in my body.

Should I go on a water fast? If so, for how long? I did a water fast in the beginning of May 2014 for 14 days.
Should I get a colonic or enemas?
Is there a way to detox the liver?
Could it be candida-overgrowth?

I'm at a lost and I don't know what to do!

A little about me -
I'm African-American,female, 48yrs old, 148lbs, 5ft 8inch, married, 3 sons, no health issues

No medications before being prescribed antibiotics and acne creams

Transitioned to 811 in Aug 2010 from cooked vegan diet, not 100% yet(about 95%), Vegetarian since Jan. 2002, diet consists of: oranges, grapefruits, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, mangoes, watermelon, cucumbers, raisins, dates, celery, bananas, kale, spinach, green onions, carrots, tahini, avocado, tomatoes, lemons, ground flaxseeds, raw hemp seeds, papaya, apples, arugula, swiss chard, bok choy, and frozen fruit for smoothies. The other 5% is cooked vegan foods (rice, sweet potatoes, potatoes, greens, beans and bread). I will eat these foods if I run out of fruit and have no funds to buy more.

Work at computer for work 8-10hrs a day, high-stress job

30 min walks 4 days a week, cardio-dance 60min workout 2 or 3 days a week

Sleep 7 to 8 hrs on avg

Any guidance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
