For water drinking (and food intake) I never force myself to consume
some predetermined amount.

I go by what my body wants. So, for me, drinking a quart of water
upon arising works very well. It goes down easily. I sip it within a
space of about an hour and then I do my intense morning movement
activity. From my experience, this movement feels better after this
amount of water and I find I do not get thirsty during and drink just a
little after. And then for the rest of the day I have a little bit here and
there as my body wants and needs it, depending on circumstances.
