Subject:         80/10/10 energy for long bike rides

I did a 60 mile group ride yesterday and the 3 bananas and handful of
dates that I brought along were not enough fuel and I booked I on the last
20 miles. Also, I was at a social event the night before and wasn't able to
eat my traditional 80/10/10 meal for dinner. How much does what you eat
or not eat the night before affect you energy for e along ride the next day?

I'm trying not to give into using the energy bars and goo that everybody
else uses so any advise would be greatly appreciated.
