I discuss this issue in great length in Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries. There is no simple answer. Vigorous cardio: I'd wait two hours or more after eating, but of course the decision depends upon how much you ate, what you ate, how hungry you were, your digestive abilities, etc. Not much need to wait before going to strength training. For mixed training, I'd wait a couple hours. Gentle activity is fine after eating.
