oh yes! I love persimmons. Definitely one of my faves.

It is late spring here in the US, but during the autumn months
persimmons overflow at the farmers markets here. Most of the
growers say the fuyu ones are ready even when firm, "like an apple"
they say. However, I always go to my favorite grower who picks them
just a a bit soft. In my opinion this is when they are ripe as they tend
to be juicy at this stage.

I also enjoy the Hachiyas but they HAVE to be eaten very soft, almost
like a pudding. In fact, I often throw a bunch of the Hachiyas in the
blender, at times with bananas….and this creates a scrumptious
pudding. My "non raw" friends go nuts over this.

Right now we are in kind of a transition phase as far as local fruits.
The stone fruits have shown up at the markets, but its too early for
them. So I'm enjoying the imported mangos at the moment.

I'm glad you're enjoying your persimmons, Bronwyn :)) You got me all
excited!! lol !
