This report actually makes me sympathetic of Doug and his wife from within their paradigm. They tried their best from the knowledge base they had at the moment.
This report confirms to me the necessity of using herbs and not relying on hospitals unless other reasonable options are tried first. I am a Chinese and western herbalist and I disagree with some raw fooders stance against alkaloids in whole vegan herbs, when they are willing to resort to synethic drugs for infections. I once had a massive gum infection pop up over night and my face puffed out and throat closed and membranes formed, and I went to a holistic dentist who just advised antibiotics to me. He charged me $200 for an exam but was no help. Instead, I used special raw vegan antibiotic juices and a good attitude and cured it naturally in less than one week. I was warned the infection could spread and cause damage, but to me, antibiotics were not an option, but at the same time, I was open to using any vegan herb. In my field, I have battled the side effects of antiobiotics in my clients, from torn tendons (side effect of cipro) to compromised digestion and secondary infections. To me, knowing how to heal infections naturally is must for a natural healer.
