You need enough protein to meet all your physiological needs, and whatever protein you need in order to facilitate the structural integration of protein into the muscle you intend to grow.

But personally, I think you are going about this sort of backwards, though I don't know the details of your goals or thought processes. I'd instead be sure to eat near enough, and train like crazy, including for muscular hypertrophy, and let my weight fall gradually.
