Depending upon the degree of degeneration, osteoporosis recommendations must vary a bit. Primarily, the concerns are two: stop the loss of calcium and create conditions that call for a positive calcium balance. In order to achieve the first, foods such as dairy, meat, and soda must be discontinued. In order to achieve the second, exercises that call for strength must be initiated, (relative to the person's abilities and degree of degeneration) as well as other necessary exposures such as sunlight much be incorporated. These are the major concerns.

The taste for sweets is usually enhanced with increases in physical activity.
