Subject:         Totally new to 80-10-10 - Questions to get started

Hi Dr. Graham,

I am completely new to 80-10-10. I just finished reading
your book a few days ago. I read it from front to back in
about a week, and I couldn’t put it down. The information
was well put together, easy to follow, and your writing
style is superb. Can’t say I have ever read a book of this
nature word for word and in only one week’s time. Now, I am
left with many questions, and where/how to start? And, I
would like to start right away!!!

My only concern about the diet is the 3 course meal/ large
salad every night. I am in a dance company, and about 3
nights a week I don’t get home until around 9:30 pm. I like
to be in bed by 10:30 – 11 pm on those nights so that I can
get about 9 – 9.5 hours of sleep, which I find suites me
best. On my previous diet (which was an 70% raw vegan
diet), I would drink a green fruit juice for breakfast at 8
am (appx. 150 cal), a large green banana raw protein
smoothie around 11 am (appx. 350 cal), a large salad with 2
servings of some sort of cooked starches, ¼ cup of nuts, and
one tablespoon of flax oil (appx. 700 cal) and a small vegan
meal (always varied) of about 300 calories when I came home
at 9:30. This put me around 1500 calories a day, and I have
been eating this way for about 6 months where I have
maintained my weight of 127 lbs. 5’4” (female, 29 y/o). On
weekends I didn’t watch my foods/calories as much, and would
eat out at vegan restaurants about 2 x per weekend (probably
consuming closer to 2,000 calories on Saturdays and
Sundays). I am fairly active; I dance (low-medium- high
impact) about 10 -20 hours a week, and I do Dailey method
Pilates (intense exercise) for 2 hours a week. I do have a
very sedentary job.

Do you have any suggestions for me regarding number of
meals/ types of meals/ meal times / and amounts of calories
per meals? Is it okay to eat a large salad (and does it
have to contain 3 courses) around 3:00 pm on those days, and
have a small meal of bananas or something for dinner at 9:30
pm instead? Also, I do have some foods at home I would like
to finish up as I am transitioning into 80-10-10 rather
than throwing them out. Mostly super foods and oils. Can I
put a tablespoon of raw superfood powder (I have various
types) in a banana smoothie every day, and have 2 tsp of oil
in my salad every day until I finish them up (rather than
eating nuts or seeds until they are gone)?

Sorry for the long post, maybe this is too much for a
discussion board?! I am happy with any advice
