I think I eat and digest pretty much the same as I have for the last 25 years or longer. I am perhaps more aware to be sure of taking great care of myself, hence I am less likely to hurt myself with food or in any other way. But my digestion is excellent, thank you. I eat the same 15-20 or more bananas for lunch that I always have.
I don't actually think I eat less overall than I used to, either. My choices of activities continue to vary, but when I am in an active phase, I am still consuming close to 4000 calories per day or I'm dropping weight like mad, weight that I will have to gain back, as I am happy at my current weight. When I am not in an active phase, I still eat about 3000 calories per day. Overall I average about 3500 calories daily, when measured for a year.
I believe most folks eat less as they get older because they do less. I think the digestive issues people develop with age are the result of cumulative lifestyle improprieties.
