First, I can't diagnose your problem based upon the limited info you provide, sorry.
As for the quote, it is unfounded. Quantity of sugar is not the sole factor for determining fermentation, nor is hybridization a negative factor. In truth, all plants and all animals are hybrids. To suggest that fruit should not be eaten is not a recommendation that can be validated.
