Dear Doug

I am Alex. I am 29 years old, moderate exercise, 40-45 hours of sleep per week.

I've been on 80/10/10 for more than year and a half (2500-3000 calories a day,
mostly fruit and greens). Never really had any issues. In recent months i would
eat tons of melon and persimmon, possibly i over ate on these fruits if such thing
is even possible. I would eat a 7-8 kilo uzbek melon in one go, i didn't push
myself to do it, it felt alright. I would also eat 2 kilos of persimmon in one go,
maybe that was a mistake too. A month ago or more i started to get bloating
which never went away ever since. No discomfort or anything, i am just bloated
all the time, often constipated, at least more often than before. Mood levels
started to fluctuate more i think even though i feel pretty good, just quite tried,
which is unusual.

Recently, I fasted on water for 4 days. I eased myself into the fast with some
fresh juice at for a day first and then went into a water fast. I would mostly feel
good throughout the fast. I had nausea on day 2 and day 3 in the mornings, i
helped myself to vomit and felt good afterwards. Dark greenish bile would come
out while vomiting both times.

Bloating went away on the 3rd day of the water fast. Good old flat belly returned
that i always had since i transitioned into 80/10/10.

I broke my fast with some fresh orange juice. Bloating immediately came back. I
felt like doing a banana island for the next week thinking that it might ease the
digestive tract more. But basically bloating persisted and i would feel constipated
throughout the banana island. Today is my 7th day eating just bananas (only
ripe) and bloating is still there. I am starting to wonder about the cause of it as i
never had such problem before. But now it's been there for a month.

Could be an issue with duodenum related to the volume of food or something
bad i've eaten? Or possibly a stress-related IBS? I am quite puzzled to be honest.
Do you see a familiar pattern?

Possibly my body needs more time to heal itself and i am just stressing because
of the awkwardness of the situation.

What do you think, Dr Graham?
