I don't know about the oatmeal, but for me, after being on a very low sodium diet then going out to eat, which almost always involved super high sodium foods, the shock (sodium poisoning) caused severe abdominal cramps 45 minutes or so after eating the high sodium meal and lasting for up to two hours. By severe, I mean it would be nearly impossible to stand up straight at times and would also involve profuse sweating, heart rate elevation and low-grade fever during this two-hour period. After 2 days of eating high sodium meals, the sensitivity would go away only to come right back after eating 811rv for 3 or more days. I experimented with various foods and situations to determine that it was, in fact, the high sodium causing the severe cramps. I found that if I straddled the fence long enough (included regular diet indiscretions), the sensitivity diminished over time. The best solution for me was to stick with the 811rv 100%. The second best solution was to add only very low sodium foods, if I must have cooked foods. The third best solution for me was to have a big high potassium meal (like drink 12 blended bananas) 30 minutes before the cooked foods. Hope something in my experiences helps you figure out what works for you.
