Dear Dr Graham

It's a persimmon season here in Russia and i've been eating a lot of them
in a perfectly ripe condition (kind of when they are like water baloons). I
take them as mono-meal eating 7-8 persimmons at a time.

Recently i started to get seriously bloated and constipated which never
happened before during my 1.5 years in 80/10/10. It's been a week and the
only thing that helps me to have a bowel movement is eating 5-6 kilos of
melon. Laxative herbs don't work. Even when i have a bowel movement, i
am still bloated, so it seems like there is some stuff up built up down there
although i don't feel any physical pain or such.

My exercise level is moderate. I eat about 2000-2500 calories a day mostly
by fruit mono-meals (bananas, melons, oranges, mangoes). I also eat a lot
of greens in salads. Stress levels are moderate.

I love persimmons but when i started to research its posdible in
Uence on digestion i found a lot of scientific articles stating that eating this
fruit can sometimes lead to bezoars being formed in the stomach or small
intestine. These articles really don't sound nice. I still have about 10 kilos of
persimmons that will soon turn overripe and it would be a shame to let
them rot.

How do i know whether its the persimmon that is causing
bloating/constipation? Do you support the claims about bezoars being
formed by persimmon to any degree?
