If you are going to count calories, as a weight loss strategy, you'll have to count them all. Deficit days will result in losses, neutral will allow maintenance, and excess will result in gains. Each day might not result in what you expect because water weight plays a bigger role than fat in day to day weight monitoring. But overall, if your total is deficit, you will lose.
