We are not only looking at nutrients as isolated substances, but in concern with each other. Mineral to calorie ratio must be considered, and fruit usually falls slightly short here, whereas vegetables fall long. Of course, your definition of fruit affects the way you look at your diet. If you call cucumber, tomato, zucchini, okra, eggplant, pepper, and even almond fruit, and perhaps a few other items, you might not need so much vegetable.
