Subject:         Washing greens

Hi Doug!

As much as I would love picking my own greens in my own garden, grown without animal manure and with natural methods, I don't have the oppurtunity to grow my own at this time and rely on buying it.

Here's my question: I'm a bit worried about things like ecoli etc, contaminated greens basically.

1) How's your approach to washing greens before eating? I see a lot of people just buying greens and eating them straight out of the bag without washing. As long as there's not lots of dirt on them, do they require washing?

2)And if I do wash them, would that remove the potential contaminants?

3)What about washing the greens with tap water from a city in Thailand ,I'm there now (great durian!) or in developing countries in general? I'm not drinking the water, but is it safe to rinse the greens with, and toothbrush etc?

Really need your advice here Dr. Graham!
