Dear Dr Graham,

Is it true that old fecal matter can get retained in the intestines for many years (after poor diet)?

And is it also true that the intestine 'sheds' and renews its lining (and if so, how often is this?)?

If someone has had a poor diet for many years then moves to 80/10/10, will the foods in the diet be enough to remove the old waste (if this does indeed remain) or might other measures also be needed (e.g. psyllium-bentonite cleanses)?

Thanks, DJ
