Hi James,

I too gained weight during my first year of 811,
though only about 5-7lb. I ate as much as I wanted,
usually around 2500-2700 cals. I do as much
exercise as I am able, but in intense bursts, like
most gymgoers. After approx 2 years of 811 however,
my weight has dropped about 10-12lb since the
heavier period, still eating as much as I wish. So
just saying that I find some truth in the assertion
that bodyweight will tend toward your ideal, with
time and PATIENCE!

Restricting will of course tend to cause rebound
effects where we compensate for the "lean period".
Before attempting this, I suggest:

Try very simple meals, perhaps mono fruit plus one
type of leaf, or a mixed green salad + 1 type fruit.

Try a one-fruit (fresh not dried) island for a while
- I believe Dr D generally considers it safe to do
such an island for up to a month. Whilst being very
healing in placing less load on digestion, it may
help you to prefer very simple meals, as above; and
it is something you can always go back to.

It' so true that "diets don't work", (ie, weight
loss diets)in that the dieter sees them as a
punishment.

I too watched Andrew's video; it is rather unclear
whether he is eating to satiation or forcing himself
to eat more, as he also asserts that he had no
desire to eat 3000+ calories prior to starting the
experiment - amazing for a long-distance runner,
weightlifter and yoga practitioner of his age and
height.

Best wishes for success, and if the wight does not
drop off as fast as you would like, keep your mind
on the many other benefits of 811 - it's the only
way to true health.
