Subject:         Nopal / Nopales cactus - valuable food?

Dear Doug,

Do you like those succulent leaves as a food?
I'm referring to the softer, more edible relative of the
Prickly Pear .. the one with small red flowers and irrelevant
fruit.
To me they taste ok, didn't get to try enough. A bit gooey. I
remember you said you do eat some Okra which is a bit
similar. Have you tried the Nopales? Do you think they can be
good in decent quantities, or better for a couple bites or
less?
