I was having a conversation about being addicted to alcohol over the weekend.

One friend stated that in order to come off an alcohol addiction one must do so slowly.

Being an avid 811 fan and subscribing to the idea that to get out of a hole you must not dig slower, but stop digging altogether could someone please shed some light on this.

My friend stated that if you were to come off alcohol cold turkey then it would have adverse affects on your body. However, this contradicts the idea that the body never wants or desires anything that is bad for it.

Can anyone explain what my friend thinks and or support my views and if so why?
