Subject:         Torn Meniscus Cartilage in Right Knee

Dr. Graham or anyone else,

I need your sports/athletic training expertise.

I tore the meniscus cartilage in my right knee about 2-3 months ago. I was eating mostly vegetarian at time. Inflamation was high, could not walk well, I could not bend knee, etc. And, I am a little overweight, I'm 37. I have been pregnant or nursing over last 5 years. My son is a year & a half & I nurse him 4 times a day still. I had a MRI, which said I had a tearing at the junction of body & posterior horn of medial meniscus. Subtle & tiny arameniscal cysts; grade II chondromalacia of lateral patelar facet. The only option they gave me was surgery, which I did not want.
I began doing research & found you,& your book, & more. So I just started eating Low Fat Vegan, mostly raw but some cooked vegan about a 3-4 weeks ago. Swelling & pain went down from 95-100% to 75% to 50% to 25% and now its about 5% or less, and I've lost 10-15 lbs so far. I am feeling pretty good.
I really want to try to heal my leg. How much time do I need to give body? Is healing this cartilage even possible in your experience? What else can I do to save my leg? I am open to any advice? Exercise routine? Also, if I missed anything, please don't hestitate to ask me?

Thanks SO much.
