I have been running 3.5 years. The first year was rough. It takes
some time to adjust in a bio mechanical way. But keep at it! I
rotate different toes of shoes throughout the week because they
work our muscles differently. You might like a more minimal
shoe. Nike Air shoes have a huge heel. Also different speeds
work is differently so try a variety of runs. For example try running
2 mins at 6.5 mph and then walk 1 minute. Intervals like this build
fitness faster for a lot of people.

Don't forget stretching/rolling out your IT band after runs.
