Basically you need to take in about 1000 extra calories per day in order to breast feed an infant. If you normally eat 2000, or 2500 per day, you'd need 3000 or 3500. You need to eat AT LEAST as much as you were eating during your 8th and 9th months of pregnancy, plus a bit more for whatever exercise you are adding in.
