To a degree, the decision to eat or not depends on quite a few factors. Obviously, duration and intensity of exertion matter. Short duration or low intensity may not require post-workout refueling. Your overall diet, especially the caloronutrient ratio, also affects the decision of whether or not to eat. What you ate and when you ate it for your last meal prior to exercise also affects your decision. If you are certain that you have sufficient carbs available to fuel recovery, you certainly are under no obligation to eat.
