Fasting provides the body with the time and opportunity to cleanse, detox, and heal itself. By not eating, the body scours itself for fuel, using and eliminating all unnecessary structures, debris, or accumulated waste. All facets of our anatomy and physiology vector towards health during a fast. Athletes fast to improve their health, and experience tremendous athletic performance results. Ill people fast to overcome illness. Health-minded individuals fast in order to make a quantum leap in the way they feel, to overcome negative habits, and to learn more about healthful living. I teach a 100-hour program on healthful living at each Costa Rica fasting program.
