I believe caring for teeth is the way to go, as primitive as modern dentistry may arguably be. Ignored cavities tend to only get worse. Is it possible for cavities to heal, or seal themselves? Sure, anything is possible, but I wouldn't bet on it myself.
Dried fruit, and poor oral hygiene tend to be the worst influences upon teeth and gums.
