Yes, you lose weight by eating fewer calories than you use in daily life. Currently while you are inactive, it is unlikely you are using more than 2000 calories daily. Of course, there are all sorts of ways for you to be active while sitting in a chair, or even when in bed. You could use bands or dumbbells for your upper body, for instance. The leg that didn't have surgery could be used, and you can likely do core, abdomen, and back exercises as well. To effectively reduce calorie intake, make sure to eat all the vegetables you care for, and use juicy fruits in preference to the densest sweet fruits.
