Dear Dr. Graham Douglas, Thank you so much for this great opportunity for questions. I just read your book The 811 diet and have a question regarding losing weight. If I remember correctly you state that shedding pounds by eating less calories than one consumes may be pernicious to the body. I am looking to lose weight and I'm in convalescence right now from an arthroscopy (I am not supposed to bear any weight at all on the operated knee for some weeks, so I have practically zero physical activity). And I wonder how many calories should I eat? Less than that which I'm supposedly burning? That's what I thought but then I recalled what I read in your book (what I just exposed) and inferred that should be wrong according to your work. If all this is correct, how am I going to lose weight? Just by eating the same calories I need to maintain my weight? By the way, I'm a 44 male, 5'8" tall and 167 lbs. I highly appreciate any information you're generous enough to offer.
